Balisong - Butterfly Knife

The balisong or known as "Butterfly Knife" has two folding handles that close to surround the blade, protecting both the blade edge and the user of the knife. With careful practice, the knife can be mastered as a Martial Arts weapon, allowing the user to spin the knife by holding the handle which closes on the top side (dull edge) of the blade. Each rotation of the knife will open or close the blade depending on the number of rotations or "flips".

Learning the art of balisong entails a lot of sacrifice. Perseverance is the key to enjoy the art of balisong. As a starter one cannot avoid beeing hurt, that is wounding ownself. It is therefore necessary to observe extra care in handling the knife. The knife being sold out of Philippines are made of surgical steel blade. They are sharp as razor blade but crispier. Some knifes are made out of flat bearings, they are made of hard steel that could even punch a coin and could be honed as sharp as a razor blade.
