Bankaw - Long Stick or Speer

The weapon of the early days. The system employs a long rod called "Bankaw" and was practised throughout the Philippines. It maybe practised using a spear as what the hunters and warriors did or with an ordinary pole as what the fishermen did with their oars and the peddlers with their carring poles.

Practice consists of partner drills with zoning and footwork, strikes, blocks, chokes and disarming combinations. Twirling techniques in combination with striking, blocking and disarming make this weapon extremely effective.
