Mano Mano - Empty Hand & Foot Fighting

Most other Asian martial arts are taught in a framework of fixed position techniques, requiring years of practice to become proficient at using these structures in a free form fighting situation where the opponent may attack at almost any angle.

Mano Mano, on the other hand, translates the simple movements of the blade into hand-to-hand or empty hands translations with free flow movement. Students of Mano Mano learn very quickly how to defend themselves through the full range of fighting – kicking, punching, trapping and grappling ranges.

Mano Mano teaches the student how to flow with the attack. Students of Arnis or weapon fighting will quickly see how blade movements translate to the hand-to-hand style. Martial artists studying other systems will be able to learn how to make their systems flow using the priciples of Mano Mano.

Mano Mano consists of numerous strikes including hand, elbow, kick and knee techniques, where a student can choose their preferred or natural strikes. It also includes self defence release techniques, locks, holds and restraint techniques.

Mano Mano students are trained to fight ambidextrously to counter any empty hand techniques (fist, elbow, kick and knee techniques) in a flow framework similar to Arnis from any angle or distance.

Palit Palit (give and take) flow drills are the key to Kombatan and are constantly practice to make foot work and reflexes second nature whether for defence or offence. All combinations of empty hand again empty hand or any weapon are practiced through all levels.
